RED LIGHT REVELATIONS: RISQUÉ LADIES OF DAWSON AND THE KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH, 1898 T0 1902

This book captures the flavor of the gold stampede in Alaska and Northwest Canada through newspaper articles about the soiled doves. Of the 30,000 people in Dawson, Yukon Territory, most were men, but some women hastened to the call of fortune and excitement. Many of these were professional prostitutes.  This is the story of professional and amateur ladies of pleasure who worked in Dawson at the turn of the century. Their tales take place during 1898-1902. This series of articles gives an accurate view of many of the ladies and their activities. Contains newspaper articles and illustrations. A 2001 publication.

RED LIGHT REVELATIONS: A GLIMPSE INTO SACRAMENTO'S BAWDY PAST

This book provides a look at Sacramento’s sportin’ women in 1885.  The view is seen through newspaper articles presented in the SACRAMENTO DAILY BEE.  The Sacramento sportin’ crowd of 1885 was not much different than those found in other parts of the West.  Many of them were very mobile and thus traveled to other Western towns. This glance provides an interesting and reflective view of women working in Sacramento’s saloons and bordellos during that exciting and lively time. Contains newspaper articles and illustrations.

$24.95, 11" x 8½", softcover (spiral binding), 61 pages.

RED LIGHT REVELATIONS: A GLANCE AT GREAT FALLS' LUSTY PAST

This book reveals prostitution in Great Falls through the newspapers from 1889 through 1918. Activity in the red light section during this time was probably greater than at any other time in Great Falls. Prostitutes were working the streets, saloons, cribs, hotels, boarding houses and brothels of the city with approximately 100 to 125 working at any one time. The trade did well in Great Falls, especially after the turn of the century. This book, containing articles and illustrations, is the first known publication to focus on prostitution in Great Falls and the surrounding area.  Like the men they entertained, these women were pioneers in the development of Montana.

$24.95, 11" x 8½", softback (spiral binding), 98 pages.
